The Montecito Mentorship Initiative Montecito Mentorship Initiative Where Jewish students grow into Jewish leaders The Montecito Mentorship Initiative (MMI) empowers Jewish students at UCSB by connecting them with accomplished Jewish professionals across Montecito and Santa Barbara. Through shared experiences, mentorship, and community, we help students gain confidence, clarity, and a powerful sense of belonging as they pursue their future careers. How It Works MMI offers two core components: Quarterly Signature Events Four dynamic gatherings throughout the year give students exciting opportunities to build meaningful relationships with mentors. Each event features a fresh and engaging format such as roundtable conversations, vision-building workshops, speed questions, or leadership insights from standout professionals. These gatherings are welcoming, social, and designed to spark new opportunities. Monthly Mentorship Touchpoints Once accepted into the program, each student is thoughtfully matched with a mentor in their field of interest. We invest real care and attention into making these pairings aligned with professional goals, personality fit, and values so the relationship can grow with purpose. Students then meet once a month for personalized guidance, networking, and support. Some mentors participate primarily in the quarterly events, others focus on one-on-one mentorship, and many enjoy both. However they engage, mentors play a vital role in uplifting the next generation of Jewish leadership. Why It Matters MMI is more than career guidance. It is a community invested in student success professionally, personally, and Jewishly. Students gain: • Exposure to accomplished professionals • Practical insights and leadership skills • A network they can carry into their futures • Confidence in their ability to make an impact as Jewish leaders Our Foundation The Montecito Mentorship Initiative is a project of Chabad of Montecito, directed by Rabbi Chaim Loschak alongside a committee of local Jewish professionals. We collaborate closely with Chabad of UCSB to engage and support students. This initiative is made possible through the generosity of local visionaries who believe in nurturing Jewish leadership and ensuring a vibrant future for our community. I'd Like To Get Involved Yes!
